A tailored programme enabling individuals with disabilities to gain and
maintain employment unsupported employment in the future.
Workstep is a government funded programme
that aims to assist individuals with disabilities and long term health problems
to:
Find and maintain long term employment
Retain employment with a current employer when at serious risk of
losing their job
Within Norfolk
Industries we operate this programme over a maximum 2 year contract with a view
to providing development and training as well as commercial work
experience.Individuals are encouraged
to develop soft skills such as confidence, motivation and self management as
well as academic skills were appropriate.
Ultimately Workstep
is designed to enable individuals to progress towards open employment whilst
earning a wage and being developed.It
offers a stepping stone for people with various disabilities between long term
unemployment and unsupported work.
In most cases, once a vacancy arises, a Disability Employment Advisor (DEA) or
Personal Advisor (PA) at your local job centre will assess an individual’s
suitability for Workstep and then make a referral to Norfolk industries Contact
